Sinopse
Marie moves temporarily to her mother Regina in a small city apartment in Paris because her boarding school was closed after a fire. The unusually close contact reveals her mother‘s unrestrained and immoral life. To her surprise, however, this does not change anything in her behavior. Marie notices the sexual excesses from the next room and is only slowly getting used to the prevailing permissiveness. In doing so, she becomes more and more the actual object of desire. Innocence and sin are the tense poles of this rousing novel.
