Anne Frank, it has been said, gave a face and a name to the horror of the Holocaust. This is her story. It relates how Anne, her family, and their friends hid in secret rooms - "the Annex" - in an Amsterdam warehouse for 25 months. Anne, just 13 when the family moved in and only 15 when the Gestapo at last broke down the doors of her secret world, found hope where there was only fear and the first blush of love when outside and all around there washed a sea of hate.

Wrote Ernst Schnable, a German writer who has researched Frank's life: "Out of the millions that were silenced, this voice no louder than a child's whisper has outlasted the shouts of the murderers and has soared above the voices of time."

O diário de Anne Frank nos mostra os relatos reais de uma menina passando por todas as transformações que jovens da sua idade passam, mas em um contexto histórico muito sombrio. Além dos pormenores do funcionamento da vida e do dia a dia no esconderijo, vemos seus questionamentos, implicâncias, o gradual amadurecimento, o início de um romance, as esperanças e sonhos... Até a escrita do diário e, posteriormente, sua vida, ser abrupta e injustamente interrompida pelos invasores alemães. Esta edição conta também, a partir de pesquisas feitas com testemunhas e em registros históricos, o que aconteceu com Anne entre o período em que fora levada do esconderijo para os campos de concentração e sua eventual morte. A narração do audiobook é boa, porém a qualidade do áudio está bem ruim, infelizmente. Mesmo assim, a escuta vale muito a pena.
