Sobre este áudio
Based on the events of the Battle of Maldon, fought between the English militia, led by the military hero, Bryhtnoth, and the Viking army, led by Olaf Tryggvasson, in the year 991 A.D. A poem fragment survived, called The Battle of Maldon, with descriptions of the fight, the warriors in the fray, and the devastating flight of a coward. Confessions of a Warrior follows the aftermath of the Battle of Maldon and a craven's actions.
A new name and a new identity can’t change the warrior’s past. Chased by inner demons and cruel hunters, the black-bearded man runs for his life, from the battle of Maldon, where his sin lies, through the forests of Essex and into the fens along the waterways for nine long years and finally to the cathedral at Winshire, outside the northern city of York, to find freedom.
Forgiveness is a journey fraught with enemies to the left and to the right. Father William hears the confession of the warrior, but can he absolve the sins of a man riddled with guilt and shame, sin upon sin? Revealing his cowardice, lies, fornication, and murder, the warrior’s words expose memories and emotions within Father William long thought healed.
Can Father William absolve the warrior of his sins, set him free? Will Father William’s own fears and bitterness be vanquished before the warrior has told his tale?
