Sobre este título
Beyond the front iron gates and down a path, impeccably lined with trees, stands an impressive fortress with magnificent masonry, precise rows of oversized windows, and a dignified clock tower visible for miles. The landscape surrounding this edifice is spectacular, featuring verdant lawns, well-maintained gardens, and serene winding walking trails. But beyond the tranquil setting—inside—there is chaos within the brick walls. The first impression might be one of grandeur, sophistication, and regimented routine. A hint of serenity and healing may even linger for a moment.
The vision of the asylum was conjured from the belief that mental illness could be cured. In the right environment, with proper exposure to natural light and air circulation, insanity could be broken, and patients would recover.
So, impressive facilities rose from the countryside at record speed, designed to soothe and heal the soul. But quickly, it was realized that the dream was not to be. The system became overburdened as patients flooded into the corridors. Staff were untrained and underpaid.
Wards got tighter. Funding dwindled. Treatment shifted. The peaceful gardens outside grew wild and untamed.
The asylum that once envisioned hope had vanished. There would be no cure. No miracle. No recovery. Only dark corridors locked in time.
