Sobre este título
War calls the elves of Urlas to battle. But Kealin, a young half-elf training to be a Sacred Blade, and his three siblings, are forbidden to go. They are not ready, or so they're told. But Kealin's lineage has a dark secret and the High Council of Urlas fears what he may become . . .
Kealin is about to learn that secret and in the cataclysm emerging, Urlas will wish they had embraced it.
When the soothsayer of Urlas tells Kealin that doom comes for all that left for the war, he and his siblings set off on what may be a one-way journey to the edge of the world. Darkness is upon them and a specter that dwells between the borders of the living realms has been waiting for them.
The Rogue Elf awakens . . . but is it too late to save those he loves?

After a promising beginning in the first chapter, the narrative quickly shifts into relentless action mode. Nearly every subsequent chapter is a rapid-fire sequence of battles, confrontations, and high-stakes moments. While action can certainly drive a story forward, here it felt excessive and overwhelming. The constant intensity left little room for meaningful character development, emotional depth, or quieter moments that allow readers to connect with the cast.
As a result, the characters never fully came to life for me. Without pauses in the action to explore motivations, relationships, or internal conflicts, they remained distant and underdeveloped. I found myself watching events unfold rather than feeling invested in the people at the center of them.
What kept me listening, however, was the narration. Daniel Thomas May delivered a strong performance, bringing energy and clarity to even the most chaotic battle scenes. The narration added a level of professionalism and engagement that the story itself struggled to sustain.
Unfortunately, despite the talented narration, Half-Blood Rising didn’t meet my expectations. Readers who enjoy nonstop action with very little downtime may find it appealing, but for me, the lack of plot depth and character development made it a frustrating experience rather than an immersive one.
Too Much Action, Too Little Story
