Sinopse
Alison marveled at how everything was still the same as she returned to the town she had left six years ago when she was 12. Now 18, she has grown into a beautiful woman. She hesitated at returning due to the humiliation she suffered at the hands of Kirk, a boy she believed she had been in love with. But Kirk never paid any attention to her, a lowly servant from a poor family.
All of the town's girls had been smitten by Kirk, son of the laird and future Laird of Caithness. As she reunites with her best friend, Berthia, from childhood, she learns that Kirk is now the laird. She looks for him at the castle each day, where she has a job as a cook, but never sees him.
Unbeknownst to Alison, Kirk has noticed the beautiful woman in the kitchen but does not know who she is until Berthia tells him. But Berthia quickly regrets her mistake as she can see the gleam in Kirk's eyes when he looks at Alison.
