PR manager and mum Cassie is coming to terms with the loss of her husband Ewan two years ago. With her career until now in London, her life is one of keeping the balls in the air and finding a new way forward. Close to long-standing family friend Raf, who’s stepped back from a career drumming in his dad’s rock band, they’ve leaned on each other since Ewan passed away.

With her house in London sold, Cassie’s staying with her best friend, and Raf’s sister, Pippa, in Hartfell whilst their new home is renovated. Grateful for the ongoing love and support of her parents-in-law, Cassie is moving the family north to Galloway and helping to run their holiday business.

When Raf arrives in Hartfell in search of inspiration to write, Cassie wants only to escape the memory of a crazy kiss they shared on holiday in Australia a few months ago. She’s avoided Raf since then and bumping into him again is only adding to her uncertainty. Still feeling guilty about their kiss and moving on from Ewan, she can’t afford to indulge an attraction for a man who’s always professed he’ll never settle down.
