Sobre este título

This book presents a historical comparison between the medieval Crusades and Israeli sovereignty: Israel, Jerusalem, and the victory that the nine Crusades failed to achieve.

The nine medieval Crusades arrived with fervor and swords, raised short-lived kingdoms, and left behind relics, ruins, and memories. All failed to sustain dominion over the Holy City.

Without a state, without a native population base, and without lasting institutions, Jerusalem slipped from their grasp time and again.

Centuries later, Zionism and the creation of the State of Israel changed the equation, and 1967, Jerusalem ceased to be a disputed enclave, and became a sovereign capital, with an army, citizens, laws, schools, rituals, and a political structure capable of transforming conquest into continuity.

This book advances a provocative thesis: to read the founding of Israel as the “tenth crusade,” the only one that succeeded in transforming the impulse toward Jerusalem into stable sovereignty. Not as dogma nor as political legitimization, but as a tool for historical analysis: why did what was impossible in the Middle Ages become possible in modern times?

Critical objections: is it valid to speak of a crusade? Colonialism or self-determination? Future scenarios for Jerusalem, the most contested city in the world.

If you are interested in the Crusades, Israel, or the Holy City, this book is a must-have for your library. Discover why Jerusalem remains the most contested city in the world. Download and start listening now!
