Sinopse
Zorian Kazinski has all the time in the world to get stronger, and he plans on taking full advantage of it.
A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.
As it happens, though, time is something he is about to get plenty of.
On the eve of Cyoria's annual summer festival, Zorian is murdered, then abruptly brought back to the beginning of the month, just before he was about to take the train to school. Finding himself trapped in a time loop with no clear end or exit, he will have to look both within and without to unravel the mystery set before him. He does have to unravel it, too, because the loop clearly wasn’t made for his sake, and in a world of magic even a time traveler isn't safe from those who wish him ill.
Fortunately for Zorian, repetition is the mother of learning….

When the narration distracts from the story…
While the underlying story of the book might have its merits, my experience was overwhelmingly influenced by the narration. Every character was voiced in a manner reminiscent of a dwarf from an RPG game or in an overly annoying tone. The narrator’s regular voice during non-dialogue sections was quite pleasant, which made the character voices even more jarring.
The protagonist’s unlikable personality, characterized by a constant bad mood, was exacerbated by the narration style. This aspect made it challenging for me to connect with the story. While I understand the importance of discussing the book’s content in a review, the narration played a pivotal role in shaping my experience, hence my focus on it.
For future improvements, a more varied and nuanced approach to character voices could enhance the listening experience. I acknowledge that my reaction to the narration is subjective and others might appreciate the style. However, due to my experience, I’m hesitant to continue with subsequent books in the series. My rating primarily reflects my experience with the narration, as it significantly impacted my enjoyment of the book.

goddamn awesome
I had a bit of trouble getting behind our protagonist at the start but quickly the story really came into it's own, and once the main premise was solidly established, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I will no doubt be jumping straight into the next installment, excited to see where this story is going!
