You've been in a deal with your potential for a long time. You act like you can control when you procrastinate things when you say "later." You behave as if today's chances will still be around tomorrow and that your future is guaranteed. But you really know that life goes on, no matter what. Every day that you avoid doing something important, you lose a bit of trust. It seems like your goals are getting farther away. Your thoughts turn into fantasies, and fantasies can only last if they stay the same; they become weak as soon as you try to make them real.
Maybe that's the reason for your delay. You aren't afraid of starting—you are afraid of what you might find out when you start. What if you think you're smarter than you really are? What if you don't succeed? If everyone laughs even though you tried, you naturally wait. You think you need better conditions, more time, more confidence, and more energy.
Perfectionism, on the other hand, is the most plausible reason to do nothing. It gives the impression that doing nothing is the right thing to do. It makes you feel okay about staying put. Putting things off can feel nice sometimes. It makes you feel like you have power. You tell yourself that you're not putting something off, but rather, you're choosing to delay it. You think that tomorrow will be different only because you want it to be.
