Paper Towns is a coming of age story set in Orlando, Florida. It focuses on Quentin, a young man about to embark on his adult life, and the adventure he and his friends, Ben and Radar, have their senior year that centers on the disappearance of their classmate Margo Roth Spiegelman. Quentin lived next door to Margo his entire life, and has a crush on her. He calls living so close to her a miracle and basks in the glory that is her existence.
When Quentin and Margo were both about 10 years old, they went to a park and saw the dead body of Robert Joyner, a local man who committed suicide. Quentin was quietly traumatized by this experience, but Margo was fascinated and tried to find out what happened. She even managed to get information from the police, and went to Joyner's neighbors to get more information.
