Sobre este título
Goodreads Choice Award Winner, Best Young Adult Fantasy, 2015
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire - for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past.... She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight. She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
©2015 Sarah J. Maas (P)2015 Audible, Inc.This is going to be a slightly chaotic review because I have so many feelings and thoughts, but I’ll try not to ruin the journey for anyone. The pacing is insanely good — the story kicks off almost immediately, and from there it just doesn’t slow down. Every time I thought we might get a breather, another twist popped up. The last 100 pages? Pure anxiety. Heart racing, emotional distress, questioning my life choices… the usual SJM experience. And yet, I loved every second of it.
Aelin remains that girl. She’s a full-on baddie, and I genuinely love how much she keeps evolving as a character. Watching her step fully into herself in this book was everything, and somehow my love for her grows with every installment. Rowan… my man. What can I even say? Perfection. His relationship with Aelin is everything I want and more, and I was eating up every single interaction between them. Aedion completely stole my heart with his devotion to Aelin — it’s so pure — and yes, I’m absolutely lowkey shipping him with Lysandra 👀.
Manon surprised me the most. In my last review, I wasn’t fully sold on her POVs, but this time? I devoured them. Her character development was so satisfying, and I loved her dynamic with the Thirteen, especially Asterin. The emotional depth there really hit me. Dorian, though… don’t even get me started. I can’t say much without spoilers, but wow. His POVs shattered my heart, and he did not deserve everything that happened to him. SJM, when I catch you 😭.
Chaol, unfortunately, was my biggest disappointment. I loved him in the first two books, but here I found him mostly insufferable. He does redeem himself a bit in the second half, but still… the damage was done. And what happens to him at the end left a really bitter taste in my mouth. Lysandra, on the other hand, was such a pleasant surprise — I ended up really liking her and wanting more of her story. Elide and Lorcan definitely intrigued me, but I still have mixed feelings; I need to know them better, and I’m very curious to see where their arcs go next.
Overall, Queen of Shadows was everything I wanted and more: fast-paced, emotional, character-driven, and completely unputdownable. I laughed, I stressed, I suffered, and I loved every second of it. Now excuse me while I move straight to the quotes section because I have approximately a million lines I need to scream about.
