It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute...and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

mt interessante o uso da música como arma ao longo da série inteira, livros podem ser destruídos e manipulados, a história alterada através de propaganda, mas a música fica gravada na mente mesmo sem intenção, passando por gerações carregando sua história

a história é muito boa, a única coisa chata é ouvir o narrador "cantar" todas as músicas que aparecem no livro no mesmo tom e com a "voz" da Lucy Grey.

Suzanne Collins conseguiu criar um aprofundamento no Snow que eu jamais pensei precisar. Ele continua um vilão horrível, um psicopata auto-centrado e narcisista, mas com esse livro, conseguimos entender que, mesmo ele sendo uma pessoa ruim desde sempre, o ambiente o tornou em um monstro.
A ambiguidade na narrativa, principalmente na questão amorosa entre ele e Lucy Gray se aprofunda e entrega sentido completo no fim da narrativa.
A narrativa na voz do Santino está perfeita, mas me incomodou que as músicas não são de fato cantadas.

By far what I loved the most was the performance! Santino Fontana is superb! I can’t think of Dr. Gaul in any other way but his performance, and look, it will be Viola Davis on the big screen, so that’s just how good this is!
Couple of things about the performance that are a bit meh but don’t make it bad in any way is first the cadence, for someone with ADHD I found listening on 1.2x or even more at times made it way better. And the songs are spoken instead of actually sang (understandable of course, but still a bit weird).
The story was good and it was great meeting Snow and seeing how he changed through it all. Would love to know more of it, some short stories between university and presidency.

I loooooove it. You'll know it will end badly as you've read about future Snow, but it makes you hope for his redemption until there's no way back. It could've been completely different if it wasn't for many points and I think I'll probably keep wondering about it for a long time. What if he hadn't studied under doctor Gaul? What if he hadn't participated in the games? What if he was born to another family? Oh poor Lucy Gray... and poor people of Panem!
It's an amazing book, I'm glad I "read" it and I'll definitely check it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and appreciated how it connects to the main saga, adding depth to the narrative. However, my main critique lies with the songs. Without any instrumental accompaniment or discernible rhythm, they come across as flat and lack the emotional impact or purpose they might otherwise convey.
