Before her death, Cole Tanner’s beloved wife, Amelia, insists that Cole remarry and find happiness in the arms of another woman. Fulfilling her promise to Amelia, Cole’s sister, Grace, places an advert for a mail order bride on his behalf. When young, beautiful Catarina Mueller arrives at his ranch, Cole wants nothing to do with her.

Searching for a home where she can belong, Catarina knows her situation is hopeless. Cole will never love her nor accept her as his wife. While Cole’s son befriends her, his twin sister despises her on sight.
