At last, the Secret of LaSalette in a scrutinized English translation!
This 1846 prophecy has been capturing recent attention in the media because of current events. But how to resolve all the confusion and skewed versions? Most of the Apparition unfolded in a lengthy apocalyptic panorama, which the children explained on different occasions. 19th century journalists often extrapolated to satisfy their readers, and some surmised that the children had done the same. But what of the original hand-written accounts, cherished by Pope Pius IX?
Father Michel Corteville was working in Rome on the second volume of his doctoral thesis on LaSalette, when the Vatican Archives opened to scholars the uncatalogued documents of Leo XIII. This “Rosary Pope” had summoned Melanie to help her inaugurate the Order of the Mother of God, but it was thwarted in their lifetimes by insurmountable difficulties.
On the first Saturday of October, 1999, Father Corteville discovered the little bundle sent by the children in 1851. He interrupted his thesis to collaborate with Father Laurentin to publish these treasures in France. In 2011, far away in an American cloister, Sister Anne was surprised by a locution instructing her to promote the Rule that Mary had dictated to Melanie. A reliable English translation of “everything LaSalette” would be imperative for the members of the new Order. Thanks to years of work with over 70 volunteers, Theotokans are ready to publish. Holy Water Books was chosen for its deep French and Louisianan Catholic roots. Learn more about the Order: www.HouseofMaryOMD.org
