A poor soldier is returning home when a witch asks him to retrieve a magic tinderbox. When he has it is in his possession, he kills the witch, and assumes its powers and fortune, which includes three magical dogs that are able to do his bidding. But it is a dangerous power that soon finds him in peril, sentenced to death by the King and Queen. Will the tinderbox save him? Children will be especially entertained by the delightful performance of Erica Johns, who brings a joyous and committed spirit to this fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
