Sinopse

This brand-new unabridged audiobook of The Two Towers, the second part of J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic adventure, The Lord of the Rings, is read by the BAFTA award-winning actor, director and author Andy Serkis.

The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go.

This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Resumo da Crítica

"Masterpiece? Oh yes, I’ve no doubt about that." (Evening Standard)

"The English-speaking world is divided into those who have read The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and those who are going to read them." (Sunday Times)

An extraordinary book. It deals with a stupendous theme. It leads us through a succession of strange and astonishing episodes, some of them magnificent, in a region where everything is invented, forest, moor, river, wilderness, town and the races which inhabit them.’ (The Observer

He DID the Voice!

Oh my... Andy Serkis!
The listening of The Two Towers it's epic and gripping, the mighty narration of the coming of the White Rider brought chills to me, The Battle of Helm's Deep was simply impossible to pause. There's the Fangorn Forest that can be the more difficult part of the whole piece since the slow speech pattern of Treebeard but the player comes in handy for the second listening just to put the speed of reproduction in 2x. The Voice of Saruman was personally the most interesting chapter out of Book III since it's the first time we as the "reader" get in contact with Saruman himself and Mr. Serkis just puts on another show of interpretation! So it brings us to Book IV, the Emyn Muil is decribed so deeply it gave me the sensation of being lost myself, then it's The Taming of Smeagol and I wasn't sure if Andy Serkis would interpret Gollum as he did in the films, but he did the voice, not only that he puts a performance so amazing it dropped my jaw.
As for the piece The Two Towers, well... It's epic! It's the breaking of the fellowship indeed and with it we go to several amazing new locations! Tolkien brings us to the gloomy forest of Fangorn, the golden halls of Meduseld, the mighty walls of Helm's Deep, the high tower of Orthanc, the lakes of Ithilien and the terrible maze of the pass of Cirith Ungol. The descriptions of the world stand out again as if his design was to bring you the locations themselves or as if it was a historical account of these places. The characters are masterfully written once again, you can feel the change that fell upon Gandalf, you see the growing of Aragorn as the true king, Merry and Pippin develop as wonderful adventurers ready for the battles to come, but Smeagol is the star of this book. The portrayal of Gollum as the worst of the consequences of falling in the hands of evil is both tragic to us and cautionary to Frodo who feels the pull of the One Ring more and more,
I highly recommend this work of art. Thank God for Andy Serkis!
