Sobre este título

In 16-year-old Mike Hernandez's life, only one thing is clear: Gay is not okay. His family's life revolves around the church, a church run by the vocally intolerant Pastor Myers, so Mike has resolved to spend his life in the closet. His only escape - besides the occasional, anonymous gay make-out session - is his art. He pours his complicated emotions into risque drawings he keeps in a secret sketchbook. A sketchbook he carries everywhere.

When his sketchbook goes missing in the middle of Sunday school, Mike is sure his life is over. He's going to be outed, ostracized by their community, condemned by the pastor, maybe even homeless. What's worse, the pastor's son, Chris, suddenly seems hell-bent on adopting Mike and his friends, and he has no idea why.

When an awkward confrontation with Chris leads to an unexpected kiss instead of a much-expected punch, Mike's world is turned upside down. As their friendship grows and faith is questioned, Mike may be forced to choose between the comfortable life he's always lived and a chance at the love he never thought he deserved.

good good, though not that good. the protagonist was REALLY self centered, it seemed like even if a meteorite had tore through Alabama he would have thought it was because of him, i do like the build up for it tho, he had a lil redemption arch? though barelly noticeable. most characters were just fine, i mean, none seemed to act out of character and all but...

spoiler alert
just WHAT was that ending? im not entirelly agaisnt the main couplen ending like a "childhood story to tell the grandsons with the person you acctually married to"
but from the start the protagonist was pushes though our faces like the boy type" 1 night only, no more" and whatever that BS comes with in its kettle, but the way they just drifted off from one another "boyfriends relationships" was quite enraging. the pastor son litterally almost DIED after he run with the protag, and now their just sunshines, glitter and totally over one another after some time away? come on, i would have liked more an open ending like "one day we might have another chance" like they said in the last chapters, even showing that there was still chance AFTER the protag possibly started going out withnthe big d pool guy would have been better than just shrugging the weight of it out of the ship.

at the end, im quite staggered with the prologue and the ending itself, it feels like the story barelly matters if the 2 bozos who were the main focus of the book don't end up together yknow? i like the idea of both of em going on with their lives, but i would rather it be way after everything had happened, then hearing that "come sit over here big D pool guy" would have been likeable, it just seems like there was no time to digest all of it normally if they were already clinging to another "chances" with other people. resuming, i just thought they needed more time to get over everything between them and maybe that the prologue could have been after they were already ACCTUALLY dating other people

Okay, what?
