Dante is the current Chapter Master of the Blood Angels. Commander Dante is one of the most experienced and able Space Marine commanders. In no small part, this is due to the longevity of the Blood Angels, which he has ruled for 1,100 years. Dante is the oldest living Space Marine in the Imperium (excluding Dreadnoughts) and is held in awe by leaders of other Chapters, who can remember him being a famous commander when they were in the Scout Company.

The Beastmen, sometimes known as the Beastmen Brayherds, the Beastkin,[] the "Cloven Ones", the "Horned Ones", the "Beasts of Chaos" or even the "Children of Chaos", are a race of savage, mutant humanoids that bear various traits of bestial appearance, such as cloven hooves, muscular Human bodies, horned bestial heads and a primitive, malign intelligence.

Chaos Warriors are a select group of evil Men who have chosen to forsake their former lives and give themselves wholly to the service of Chaos to become instruments of ultimate destruction. Many, but not all, come from the ranks of the tribes of the Northmen that inhabit the Chaos Wastes and Norsca in the northern regions of the Old World.

A Penal Legion, one of the Legions Penetante, as they are known in Imperial High Gothic, are drawn from Astra Militarum and Planetary Defence Force troops who have committed capital crimes, and had their sentences commuted to life service.

In a desperate universe justice is often harsh and instant, with little consideration given to miscreants and misfits. In the struggle for survival there is no room for individuals who transgress the rigid structures of Imperial society. Such people face servitude for life in the Penal Legions.

There are a great many capital crimes in Imperial Law, so the supply of potential troops for the Penal Legions is never-ending. The Legions are home to killers and psychopaths, to fraudsters and cheats, and to the insane and the fanatic. Pick-pockets and petty thieves rub shoulders with brutal murderers, cackling madmen, and religious zealots.

Canids are a breed of dog in the 41st Millennium, that was developed by the Imperium after finding DNA of an ancient war-beast on Terra. According to ancient historical manuals, the species were superb for morale and had a wide variety of combat uses. This is still true and the Imperium has countless strains of Canids that are bred or vat-grown to fulfil hunting, attack or intimidation roles. Extensive testing has also shown that they thrive on discipline and constant exertion, such as walking, which they enjoy, and retrieving thrown objects, which they rarely tire of doing. Canids also do not respond well to threats of violence, insults to their honor or accusations of heresy. Experiments have shown that they are best dealt with through firm encouragement instead.

The Adeptus Arbites are the police force of the Adeptus Terra, devoted to enforcing Imperial law throughout the entire Imperium. Utterly dedicated and without mercy, the Arbites are feared throughout the galaxy, for they are the agents of a harsh law, where failure and incompetence are crimes, and the only punishment is death. Arbites are empowered to act as judge, jury and executioner – citizens have no rights, and only members of the Priesthood of Terra or the Inquisition could claim anything so elaborate as a trial.

Tzeentch is a God of Chaos who represents the vitality and volatility of change. Tzeentch is closely associated with sorcery and magic, as well as dynamic mutation, and grand, convoluted scheming. The domains of history, destiny, intrigue and plots are his chief interests, and in pursuit of these aspects he listens to the dreams and hopes of all and watches their plans take form. He is not content to merely observe, however, and chooses to interfere in the skeins of fate in order to fulfill his own, unknowably complex schemes. Tzeentch is known by an endless multitude of names, but the chief titles he bears are the Changer of the Ways, the Master of Fortune, the Great Conspirator and the Architect of Fate.
