After Review

What referees say after watching the replay video.
Example: “After review, the call stands.”

The Call Stands
IPA: /ðə kɔl stændz/
The replay did not show enough evidence to change the original call.
👉 Important note: Call stands does not mean the call was proven correct — only that it could not be changed.

The Call Is Overturned
IPA: /ðə kɔl ɪz ˌoʊ.vɚˈtɝːnd/
The replay clearly shows the original call was wrong, so it is changed.

• Ruling on the field → first decision
• After review → replay has been watched
• The call stands → decision stays the same
• The call is overturned → decision is changed

NFL referees use:

• Falling intonation for authority
