'There's the paradox of making pop music when you're in your 50s. People weren't meant to be doing that originally and yet now they are. Mick Jagger used to say "we're not going to be doing Satisfaction when I'm in a wheelchair".' Neil Tennant Musician Pet Shop Boys

    May 10 2025

    Public Address: VERSION 2

Since the 1950s, musicians have been playing what they call cover versions (the reworking, updating, or re-interpretation) of songs as a tribute to the original performer or group - or indeed a revamp of one of their own particular earlier/previous recordings. Using familiar material is seen as an important method of learning music styles. In Version 2 of Public Address, Thom McKeown has put together yet another varying selection of these, and the programme is 'presented' by his A.I. voice-creation or 'human version' Fontana Cordell.

"I'm quite into listening to music and not doing anything else. If I think about music in the future, I imagine it often as not involving electricity, in some dystopian, post-apocalyptic future - people making music by taking instruments out of boxes and playing them." Jonny Greenwood Musician Composer
