O Alcorão é o texto sagrado da religião muçulmana, também conhecido como a Escritura dos muçulmanos e, portanto, daqueles que praticam o Islã. Islã. É a mais antiga obra literária conhecida em árabe. O Alcorão reúne as palavras de Alá (“Deus”), as revelações (ou “Aya”) que ele fez ao mundo por meio do profeta e mensageiro Maomé (Muhammad) até a morte deste último em 632.

Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him, are severe against the disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking bounty from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. The mark of them (i.e. of their Faith) is on their faces (fore heads) from the traces of prostration (during prayers). This is their description in the Taurah (Torah).

What do you do when divine law and the justice demanded by your conscience clash? Muslims have wrestled with this problem since the earliest caliphates. The mazalim courts, dating back to the eighth century, were the answer: courts where any subject could appeal directly to an Islamic ruler regarding any matter of justice.
