Special Agent Emily Slate is a woman on a mission. Someone is sending her letters written in her dead mother’s handwriting, and she’s not about to stop until she finds out why. After all, where better to start tracking down the person who wrote the letters than in her own hometown?

Fresh off her explosive return to her hometown, Special Agent Emily Slate finds herself facing her worst fear: the possibility of losing her best friend. Agent Zara Foley, Emily’s ride or die, has disappeared during an undercover assignment. Determined to stop at nothing to find her, Emily learns Zara was infiltrating a known domestic terrorist cell, one who had recently procured a large cache of explosives. Undeterred, and against her boss’s wishes, she joins the team tracking the terrorists in hopes that it will lead them back to Zara.

Following the massive revelations about her family and the Organization that killed her husband, Special Agent Emily Slate had hoped she was finally on the right track to take them all down and finally find the answers she needed. But due to the fallout from her actions regarding the same Organization, Emily has been relegated back to desk duty, and is given a new ultimatum: she’s being transferred to a new office and will need to start all over again.
