Martin Luther wrote his small and large catechisms as a teaching tool of Christian doctrine and faith for individuals and families. Today, more than 500 years after Luther first came into prominence by penning the “95 Theses”, his catechisms are still powerful tools for the Christian life. The Table Talk of Doctor Martin Luther is a collection of Luther’s commentaries on Biblical books such as Galatians and Deuteronomy. Much of the collection is based on notes taken during Luther's talks with his students and colleagues. Luther's close associates Antony Lauterbach and John Aurifaber took note of these informal speeches in which he comments on subjects such as baptism, the holy spirit and discipleship.
