BBC North America Editor Jon Sopel visits the Audible Studios to discuss his latest title, If Only They Didn't Speak English: Notes From Trump's America. With a career as a BBC correspondent spanning across 30 years, Jon explains to us why now is the time to discuss America and what we can expect to see in the years to come.

Neurologist Ash Ranpura and Buddhist monk Gelong Thubten have recently collaborated with Ruby Wax - comedian, mental health advocate and best-selling author of Frazzled - to produce a new book called How to Be Human: The Manual. In this interview they reveal what they learnt from each other, where they found common ground and where, perhaps, they might disagree. We hear about mindfulness and what science can really tell us about who we are.

An internet personality with over 2.5 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, Louise Pentland is a popular ‘mummy blogger’, author and fashion designer whose second novel, Wilde About the Girl, the sequel to Wilde Like Me, published in 2018.

Joining us at Audible Studios is television presenter, author and teaching fellow Emma Dabiri, who has published her first book, Don't Touch My Hair. This book is all about why black hair matters and how it can be seen as a map of decolonisation. Dabiri takes us through the significant times, from pre-colonial Africa through the Harlem Renaissnace and Black Power and on to today's Natural Hair Movement.

Laura Jones and Heather McDaid are co-directors of the independent publishers 404 INK and joined us in the Audible studios to chat about Nasty Women, a collection of essays on what it is to be a woman in the 21st century. They tell us about their support from Margaret Atwood, how they decided to found a publishing company on the way back from seeing Robot Wars and what being Nasty Women means to them.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Jess Phillips, Labour MP of Birmingham Yardley since 2015. Phillips grew up in a politcally active household, which was a platform into her own political career. Joining us at Audible Studios is Irish physicist, cancer researcher and science writer David Grimes, who has penned his first book, The Irrational Ape, which aims to illustrate the power of critical thinking, and how it can literally save the world. He speaks to us about how as humans we look to balance the rational and the emotional, why we need to be skeptical about everything, and why some issues should not be debated.

Tom Walker, the creator of the fictitious British news reporter Jonathan Pie, drops into the Audible studio to talk about his new book, Jonathan Pie: Off the Record. Tom’s viral videos, featuring the incensed news reporter ranting about the state of today’s politics, have amassed millions of views worldwide. In character as Jonathan Pie, Tom has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, done a UK tour and recorded a DVD at the Shepherd Bush Empire. We find out how much he agrees with his own creation and whether - in any remote way - he is optimistic about the future of humankind.

Michael Fuller, author of Kill the Black One First, recounts his childhood in care and then his policing career, from the highs of promotion and justice to the lows of institutional racism, prejudice and family struggles. In the book, he gives details on his involvement in Operation Trident and how he overcome discrimination and stayed strong in the face of adversity. When he joined us in studio, we spoke to Michael about his first time on the beat, the advice he’d give to others experiencing bullying and what it was like to get access to his foster files.

Well-known as Pete in Gavin & Stacey, Adrian Scarborough is also known for his roles in The History Boys and The King’s Speech as well as his accomplished theatre career. Adrian talks to us about his role as the cruel Dennis in The Darkwater Bride, tells us what Pete in Gavin & Stacey has in common with Shakespeare’s Richard III and remembers his voice-over training back in drama school.

Joining us at Audible Studios is performance artist, writer and theatre maker, Travis Alabanza. Following the incredible success of their award-winning debut work, Burgerz, Alabanza has continued to create performance and discourse about trans and black identities. Their theatre show Overflow, which premiered at The Bush theatre, was shortlisted for the George Devine Award, and has been met with critical acclaim. Their writing appears in The Guardian and Vice, and has been published in anthologies such as Black and Gay in the UK.

Fearne Cotton is a familiar voice on our radios, becoming the first regular female presenter of the Radio 1 Chart Show, which she hosted alongside Reggie Yates. She has since presented her own Radio 1 show and on Radio 2. Cotton began her own podcast in 2018, titled Happy Place, following the success of her best-selling book, Happy. The podcast shares advice from experts on how to find joy in the everyday and unlock inner happiness.

Cummins worked in the publishing industry for 10 years before becoming a full-time writer. Her first book, A Rip in Heaven, is a memoir about her two cousins being murdered and the attempted murder of her brother. Cummins used the book to deal with her grief and portrays the lives of the victims and their families. She went on to release two fictions novels. Her newest release is American Dirt, a novel which looks at the plight of migrants, as a mother and son desperately attempt to escape a cartel in Mexico by fleeing to the United States of America.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about his latest book, Life 3.0, is renowned physicist and cosmologist Max Tegmark. A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and scientific director of the Foundational Questions Institute, Tegmark cofounded the Future of Life institute and has been instrumental in advising on AI research. His latest book, Life 3.0, looks at the new age of artificial intelligence and the consequences of it.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Jon Parkin, affectionately termed ‘The Beast’ by his many fans and known for indulging in full English breakfasts before training sessions. Parkin has proved his goal-scoring abilities over the years and has played for 14 different clubs in the Football League. We spoke about his memoir, Feed the Beast, his football career and plans for the future, his cheeky pranks and the personal struggles he’s faced.

No stranger to writing, Pattison's newest book is a memoir-meets-self-help title, The Secret to Happy. In it, she bares all with her now trademark honesty, candour and mission towards kindness. We caught up with Vicky Pattison to chat about how she manages her mental health, her break out of both reality TV and her comfort zone, and she told us her most valuable tips from her therapists.

Colfer, born and raised in Wexford, Ireland, alongside his four brothers, earned a degree from Dublin University before returning to Wexford to work as a teacher. After releasing some children's books that went down well in Ireland, he wrote the first draft of Artemis Fowl, and, on reading it, his family demanded he get himself an agent. Artemis Fowl allowed Colfer to leave his teaching job to write full time, and he has never looked back, gaining international recognition and regularly appearing in best seller lists.

Born in London and trained at Lamda, Joseph's acting career began in the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has appeared regularly on television in shows such as Peep Show, Timeless and BBC drama Vigil, and on the big screen in movies such as Æon Flux and The Beach. Joseph wrote and performed in a one man play, titled Sancho: An Act of Remembrance. Now, he has been looking more deeply at the life of Charles Ignatius Sancho, the first Black person to vote in Britain, publishing a novel about his life.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about her latest novel, How Do You Like Me Now?, is best-selling British author of young adult fiction - and now also adult fiction - Holly Bourne. Beginning her career as a news journalist, Bourne then spent six years working as an editor and relationship advisor for youth charity TheSite.org before becoming a full-time author. Known for her critically acclaimed Spinster Club series, Bourne’s latest book, her debut adult title, How Do You Like Me Now?, was published in May 2018.

Joining us at Audible Studios is actor and writer Obioma Ugoala. Ugoala trained at and graduated from the Drama Centre, London, and spent the beginning of his career touring and performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has played the role of Kristoff in London's West End Frozen show, Smokey Robinson in Motown: The Musical, and George Washington in Hamilton. Ugoala also provides workshops and outreach programmes to BAME students in Greater London, and has most recently written a book, The Problem With My Normal Penis.
