Starship Barnard's Star, Melbourne Spaceport, AD 2323. Cygna paced nervously around Barnard's cabin. She hadn't seen him for three days now and was beginning to worry for his safety. But, as a slave girl, there was little she could do but hope and pray he was all right.

After visiting Martin Shaw, Barnard and Claudia's attorney, Alex and Karen make their way to the Melbourne Space Port, where Barnard's Commercant is parked. As they board the ship, and begin exploring, they find out exactly who and what Barnard's "First Girl" really is: Cygna....

Karen, after promising Alex she would stay aboard ship while he rested, tries to sneak off and explore the mighty Dyson Sphere. But, at the end of the connection tube, she runs into Gunny Taylor, one of Alex's friends from his military days....
