Clark’s narrative, which covers the years 1773-1779, is a first-hand description of Illinois as it existed in the 1770s. It deals with, inter alia, the British occupation and the way it affected Kentucky settlers. Life on the frontier was dangerous and uncertain, and many people died in various battles and skirmishes.
