  • S5E35 Dirty Kiln Half Marathon

    Good test to see where I’m at right now. Overall, I felt pretty good. Weather was solid and the course was in great shape. I missed my goal time of 1:45, but honestly that was a pretty ambitious target.

    Through the first loop, the leader and I were on about a 1:40 pace, which I knew was probably too fast. I didn’t play the second loop very well. I saw him walking a hill early on and thought with more hills coming later, I could save energy and catch him with a strong push.

    But I never really switched into attack mode. I let the gap grow, lost sight of him, and mentally backed off. I walked more hills than I should have—hills I could’ve and should’ve run to stay competitive.

    I definitely left a lot in the tank. Even right after finishing, I knew I had more to give. Physically, I still felt about 90%, which says a lot.

    Was a decent week overall. Weather fluctuated a bunch. Did high some good mileage amd elevation. Even had decent race at the Dirty Kiln Half.

  • S5E33 Fools Run 5k

    Blew up. Legs were sore this morning even during warmup but once started racing felt good. Started in 3rd. Round a mile in took 2nd. Maybe a tenth after turn around moved into 1st. Was feeling good. Legs were fine. Wasnt taxing. Had 10 second lead on 2nd at the time. Then about 2.2 stomach turned. Started choking. Had stop still had lead. Then maybe tenth later happened again. Then 2 passed me. Was mentally defeated. If i stopped completly regrouped I probably could have caught back up. But I tried running again and basically threw in the towel. Goal was to be under 18 and I think I was gonn get it. But things happen. And thats why you gotta show up. Believe it was the beet powder because I could feel it in my stomach or fish sandwhich last night. Either way did not get it done and am very disappointed to say the least. Even if i didnt win but finished under 18 id been happy. This was supposed to be a race test to see fitness andbsee where actually is. But i failed miserably.
