• Our First GenAI CEO Powered By Co-Pilot

This week: Pickmon's pivoting their marketing—hopefully to something that makes sense—while PlayStation hunts for their "biggest fans" to scan their faces into Gran Turismo 7. Nothing says "we value the community" like turning your most loyal players into digital NPCs. Meanwhile, Take-Two laid off their AI team right after Nexon called Arc Raiders a "Trojan Horse" for proving controversial AI tools can build triple-A hits with smaller teams. The irony is so thick you could spread it on toast.

In other chaos: Stop Killing Games had their day in the European Parliament and apparently crushed it, leaked GTA Online revenue data sent Take-Two's stock soaring, and the new Xbox CEO reportedly admitted in a leaked memo that Game Pass "has become too expensive for players." It's been a week of leaks, layoffs, and corporate face-scanning. Standard operating procedure, really.

This week: Fatal Fury gets Wolfgang Kruiser in City of the Wolves, Punk declares Invincible Vs "one of the worst fighting games ever made" after the open beta, and MenaRD vs. Daigo goes down April 29th—first-to-10, no excuses. Meanwhile, Tekken 8's Season 3 patch got review-bombed so hard Bandai Namco dropped an emergency hotfix, Harada's out, and the community is treating the Discord feedback portal like group therapy.

On the brighter side: Jam's back in Guilty Gear Strive 2.0, Akali hit 2XKO, and Avatar Legends launches July 2nd with rollback and crossplay for $29—finally, a licensed fighter that gets it. But the real chaos? Max put a $10K bounty on UMVC3 rollback and the internet told him to add another zero. Oh, and Capcom Cup 13 has no LCQ, four spots already locked for Japan, and we're all pretending this is fine.

This week on Hollywolves, we're diving deep into the entertainment stories that matter—and the ones that just won't stop happening.

The BAFTA Incident: A disability activist with Tourette's syndrome shouts a racial slur during Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo's presentation. The BBC leaves it in, edits other things out. We break down the editorial choices and whose discomfort gets broadcast.

Jonathan Majors' Controversial Comeback: After building his brand on Black indie credibility, Majors pivots to a Ben Shapiro-produced film. We discuss the rehabilitation arc and the cognitive dissonance.

Netflix Passes, Paramount Scoops: Netflix backs out of Warner Bros. acquisition talks—too expensive, too messy. Paramount swoops in instead. Consolidation continues, Netflix waits.

Green Lantern's Earthbound Problem: HBO's "Lanterns" series goes detective noir—brown suits, gritty streets, no cosmic space opera. Fans wanted Oa, got Law & Order.

Sinners Sweeps, Debate Follows: Ryan Coogler's vampire horror wins 4 Oscars including Michael B. Jordan's Best Actor vindication. But queer Black viewers ask: where was vogue? Where was ballroom in that dance scene?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Trailer drops, we speculate. Forgotten Peter Parker, new threats, same MCU machine.

Chappell Roan vs. The Internet: Security guard roughs up fan, not even her team, local celeb calls her out, dogpile ensues. Truth comes too late. Classic 2024 justice cycle.

Usher Stands by Diddy: Old loyalty meets new evidence. We discuss the cost of defending monsters.

Super Mario Galaxy Gets Weird: Glen Powell voices Fox McCloud. Our host is underwhelmed. White bread casting for a space mercenary?

Harry Potter: Faithful but Worse: HBO's remake looks cheap, raceswaps Snape for headlines, and timing suggests JKR wants to erase the trans-supporting original cast.

TLC's Chilli Goes MAGA: Social media trail confirms the pivot. Fanbase reckons with childhood heroes.

Pussycat Dolls Drama: Jessica Sutta claims political exclusion from reunion. Nicole Scherzinger allegedly shares views but stays. Hypocrisy or excuse?

KPop Demon Hunters and the Theft: Netflix film breaks the genre mainstream. We use it to discuss what K-pop takes from Black culture—and how it treats Black people.

This week the industry decided to be a lot.

Nintendo is apparently suing the US government over tariffs—yes, really—and rumors suggest Switch 2 might need a hardware rework due to EU Regulations. Meanwhile, NVIDIA dropped DLSS 5 and the results are genuinely horrifying.

Corporate consolidation watch: Saudi Arabia now owns 10% of Capcom. We'll unpack what that actually means versus what people are panicking about.

On the human side, former Blizzard dev Jeff Kaplan finally spoke up about Overwatch's tortured development. Microsoft's "Project Helix" surfaced—their new PC gaming console hybrid. Fortnite jacked up V-Bucks prices "to pay the bills," which is certainly a choice of words from a company printing money.

This week we're running through the fighting game gauntlet. Street Fighter 6 finally unleashes Alex with a story mode that's apparently unhinged that he is now dubbed Cousin Cracker. Meanwhile, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves drops Blue Mary and we're checking if SNK's momentum holds.

Tekken 8 Season 3 is... not having a great launch. We'll dig into what's going sideways. On the flip side, Marvel Tokon dropped some meaningful gameplay updates—actual progress or just band-aids?

Indie corner: Invincible Vs. just added Alien the Allen, Powerplex, and Dupli-Kate.

Capcom Cup's PPV technical issues because of course it did. And Evo just announced six new tournaments for 2027—expansion or dilution? Finally, we still haven't touched Avatar Legends. That changes now.

We're back from our Winter break. We got a lot to talk about. Nintendo and Sony both had presentations with very different results. And Anthony takes a few moments to reminds everyone how much he hates Breath of the Wild. Plus, Geoff Keighley is the true villain of gaming.
