Fear dominates our world—grief over losses, financial worries, and an uncertain future. Jesus warned that people would “faint from fear” as the world grows darker. But there’s hope. Isaiah 26:3 promises: “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Peace isn’t found in being tough, having money, or the world improving. It’s found in one place: the presence of Jesus. Just as a child finds safety sleeping next to their father, we find peace when we draw close to Christ. This Christmas, Jesus offers you His gift: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you”—a peace the world cannot give. Will you accept His presence? Satan works to persuade us that this world—Babylon’s system of power, pleasure, and false worship—is home (Rev. 17–18; 14:8; 1 John 2:15–17). However, Scripture tells us that this is patently untrue and that our citizenship is in heaven! God’s call is clear: come out of Babylon—separate your allegiance and worship—lest we share in her sins and plagues (Rev 18:4).

Leaving Babylon does not mean we retreat from the world; like the exiles did (Jer 29), but instead live faithfully within it—seeking its peace, doing good, and bearing witness. And we're called to do this while refusing its idols (Jer 29:4–7; Dan 3; John 17:15–17; Rom 12:2). Babylon ends in smoke, where the New Jerusalem shines with God’s presence! Tears are wiped away and the nations are healed (Rev 18:9–10; 21:1–4; 22:1–2). This is an invitation to come out of Babylon in heart and habit, even as you live here. It's a call to worship God alone, to hold your citizenship on earth lightly, and to invite others to join you as we all journey toward the New Jerusalem.

Scripture warns that before the close of history a false revival will sweep across Christianity—marked by “all power and signs and lying wonders” (2 Thess 2:9; Matt 24:24; Rev 13:13; 16:14). It will appear to be Spirit-filled, electrifying, and will attract multitudes—but it will value spectacle over Scripture, coercion over conscience, and self-exaltation over exaltation of the Lamb (Jesus). Noted author Ellen White said, “...another spirit will make it appear that God’s special blessing is being poured out” (GC 464). But this counterfeit rises before God’s promised true revival... Scripture tells us that God seals His people in two ways: through the Gospel of Jesus at the time of salvation, and apocalyptically at the end of time. In both cases, we are sealed through our trust in the truth of the Gospel as evidenced by our obedience to God. Like the many other counterfeits we’ve examined during this series, we see that Satan also offers a counterfeit seal, referred to in Scripture as the Mark of the Beast.

There are numerous theories about the Mark of the Beast and the factors that cause a person to receive it. The truth is that it requires only disobedience, with Satan, the great deceiver, dressing this disobedience up as the easier, reasonable path, and dismissing the seal of God as optional.

The Bible tells us that a counterfeit ‘trinity’ is hard at work right now. Every Christian needs to recognize these counterfeits! Here's why it matters: Counterfeits don’t just confuse prophecy; they redirect worship! The aim of the devil is not merely political power but confusion and misplaced allegiance. These often subtle counterfeits trade love for coercion, truth for spectacle, and conscience for consensus. What is the Counterfeit Trinity?

The dragon (Satan) is posing in the place of the Father, wanting ultimate decision-making authority in the world and our lives. The sea beast (Rev 13:1-10) functioning as a counterfeit Christ in the papal system, and the earth beast (Rev 13:11-17) functioning as a counterfeit Holy Spirit, as Protestant America works in alliance with government authority to direct all loyalty back to the first beast (cf. Rev 16:13-14; 19:20; 2 Thess 2:3-4).

A counterfeit is an imitation of something valuable or important, made with the intention to deceive or defraud. This week, we launch “Counterfeits,” a five-part series designed to help us walk wisely and hopefully in God’s truth—now and into the future. Our first message begins in the dwelling place of the angels before creation and carries through to the end time seen in Revelation. Together, we'll see that while Satan’s tools change throughout history, his methods do not.
