Proto wakes up in the misty halls of the palace of Somnus, the Lord of Dreams. Why is he there? Who knows? By guiding dreams to the right conclusions, Somnus and his crew of dream visitors help keep the world from going off the rails. During his adventures as a dream visitor, Proto fails, makes a fool of himself, and—against all odds—makes friends too. And maybe more than friends . . . ? It’s hard to tell. Invisible boundaries have isolated Cor's village for centuries. He find a way out. What he discovers outside is a blighted and violent world in decline. Similar boundaries have fragmented the earth, while draining it of life—and he is tasked with fixing it, together with several fellow wanderers. They soon gain the power to cross those boundaries and venture into the unknown lands beyond them. What will they find waiting there...?
