Dixie and her dog-mama's search for friends begins with walks through town, at the beach, and in the neighborhood. In the beginning, Dixie explores the world around her in search of real-life friends, but only finds squirrels, bugs, deer, and even a blue plastic horse that Dixie suspects is real! One day, while Dixie and her dog Mama are on a long walk through the neighborhood, they meet a whole bunch of rescue dogs! Dixie is introduced to Jack, the one-eyed pitbull, Evil Evie, the temperamental Shih Tzu, Jarvis, the Mexican hairless dog, and Brinkley, the unofficial neighborhood mayor.
