Inspired by Saeed Jones and Maggie Smith’s conversations in the wake of the 2024 election, this is a collection of poems, essays, and visual art on what we—individually and collectively—can hold onto, and what we can work towards. In times of difficulty, with a government working against its own people, we must turn to our friends and loved ones to provide context, language, energy, and hope. The People’s Project offers a range of perspectives, drawing wisdom from their communities and histories.

Marlow loves to run, play ball, and chase rabbits and squirrels! But sometimes, his mind can’t stay on track, and his thoughts feel cluttered and messy. His mom worries that he will get lost, because he’s easily distracted by the busy world, so she introduces Marlow to Lodge, a dog therapist.

Marlow and Tito are puppies, who love spending time with their mom and playing outside. When a cat named Magic joins their family, they struggle to get along at first. Magic is unfriendly and wants her space; all Marlow and Tito want to do is play.

Tito enjoys spending time with his brother, Marlow, but one day, he sees suitcases being packed and finds out that Marlow is moving away. He becomes sad and struggles to get out of bed or eat. Feeling worried, his mom finds a therapist named Lodge, who listens to Tito and helps him feel safe.

Shakespeare's King John is a rarely performed history which tells the story of John's turbulent reign from 1199 to 1216. King John goes to war against the French after claims that his nephew should be king instead. John has conflict with the church, orders his nephew's death and turns the nobles against himself. In the end, John dies from poison, the French retreat and his son becomes king.

Three young men from different backgrounds have graduated from medical schools and have become surgical fellows at a leading teaching hospital in Boston. They learn to become surgeons, to communicate with patients and families, and to be observed and appraised by their peers and professors on daily rounds. And each month, each attends the meeting of the Mortality Conference, known to all as the Death Committee, which examines every patient loss for possible human error, in order to prevent it from happening again.
