"What do you do when it seems as if the God you were taught about is “absent” to you? What if the man you loved and would do anything for, violated you and your trust? What if that man is a family member? What if that family member is your dad? You are broken, your relationships are destroyed, your life appears to be in pieces. Your thought process is destroyed, so you think. You don’t trust men anymore because your “earthly” dad messed that up for you. Not to mention your trust in a Man you were taught to believe in that you’ve never seen before, allowed it to happen.

Raise your hand if you want to be happier! Who wouldn’t want a more joyful life, correct? Unfortunately, life circumstances and events could keep happiness out of your reach. No matter how hard you try, it always seems like you’re missing that one little happiness ingredient. Science says that happiness is in our own hands. True, some of our happiness potential is coded in our genes. The rest, however, depends on life circumstances and the conscious choices we make every single day.

Growing up in a home of imbalance can be very trying for a young adult. Alicia was molested in her early years of life and during her teenage years. She wasn't allowed to 'grow' under those circumstances. And because of that, Alicia made many mistakes. One mistake after another. She made rushed decisions that weren't thought through like they needed to be. It caused her to live a life that spiraled out of control, she couldn't get a handle on it. It took God telling her at one point and time in her life when it was total darkness, "you have to go!"

April Kek and James Wallace have each other—and not a hell of a lot else. Each the only one who understands the other, they're bound together by a friendship that endures everything the future can throw at them: horrific family lives, war, mental illness, bad marriages, and a global monetary system whose value is predicated on never-ending population growth.

If you’ve spent any time watching the news recently, you may have noticed: Everything seems...hopeless. This can feel totally overwhelming. But it's not the end of the story. God is inviting us all to walk in a hope that is strong enough to weather difficulty. As we grow in our grit, God can leverage our worst situations to bring about extraordinary things.
