A team of lawyers uses a little-known legal writ to fight and overturn the conviction of Fred Korematsu, unjustly sentenced for resisting the WWII mass incarceration of all Japanese Americans on the West Coast. The play draws much inspiration from Enduring Conviction: Fred Korematsu and His Quest for Justice by Lorraine K. Bannai (University of Washington Press 2015) and Justice Delayed by Peter Irons (Wesleyan University Press 1989).

Sean is a young man with a seemingly bright future ahead of him. After deciding he is going to take his own life, Sean visits his favorite park bench to contemplate his demise. His thoughts are interrupted by an older, sarcastic man named John. Through prompting from John - and much resistance from Sean - the two begin a conversation of self-discovery that will change the course of both of their lives forever. The Man on the Bench is a story about strangers affecting positive change and surviving the aftermath of love and loss.

Mike Brooks joins us in the Audible Studios to chat about his Keiko series and the latest instalment, Dark Deeds. He tells us how he juggles a full-time job with writing and what we can expect of protagonist Captain Ichabod Drift and paints us a picture of the world in the books - set in space in the future.
