Loving her adventurous life in the Rocky Mountains, Evelyn King joins her Nansusequa neighbors during a buffalo hunt only to find her party ambushed by a gang of scalp hunters who are cutting a violent swath toward New Mexico territory.

When Evelyn King and a family of Nansusequas Indians fail to return from a buffalo hunt, mountain man Nate King and his companion Shakespeare McNair set out to find them. Soon they begin to hear worrying tales of a band of White scalp hunters who have been killing and scalping every Indian they come across. But Evelyn and the Nansusequas turn up safe and sound after being rescued by freight owner Jeremiah Blunt.

When Nate King and his family hold a cabin raising for new neighbors in their remote valley, they come face-to-face with a new kind of enemy — one that strikes terror into their hearts.

A perfect afternoon soon descends into an outdoor fight for life when a cunning and vicious mountain lion relentlessly stalks Evelyn King and Dega through an unexplored valley.

The King family has always appreciated the remoteness of their valley deep in the Rocky Mountains. There, they have all the freedom they could desire.
